KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan has demanded that the Rangers be given uniform powers throughout Sindh to overcome crimes.
In a press conference held in Karachi, MQM Pakistan leaders, Faisal Sabzwari and Khawaja Izhar ul Hassan, stated that granting powers to the Rangers only in Karachi will not stop crimes; instead, the Rangers should be given uniform powers across the entire province and the ‘black sheep’ within the police should be eradicated, as without this, crimes cannot be eliminated.
Senator Faisal Sabzwari commented that the Sindh government has not been able to come out of the euphoria of electoral success, with ordinary citizens being killed in street crime incidents in Karachi, with most of the criminals being found within the ranks of the police.
He said that the police are not for collecting ‘Eidi’, but their job is to rein in criminals, and if the Sindh government does not establish a neighbourhood system for the maintenance of peace, then the MQM will do it.

Regarding the Sindh home minister, Faisal Sabzwari said that Zia Lanjar needs to correct his attitude, as he is the home minister for the entire province and not a coordinator for someone.
MQM leader Khawaja Izhar ul Hassan said that when the new Sindh police inspector-general was appointed, a wave of joy ran through the bandits of Kacha, and it seems as if the bandits have been given a ‘licence to kill’.
He claimed that the Sindh government has blackmailed the federal government to appoint their preferred IG.
The MQM Pakistan leaders demanded that the Sindh High court chief justice take notice of the deteriorating law and order situation in Karachi.
They demanded that that both the federal and provincial governments take serious measures to ensure the law and order and peace in Karachi.
