Multan Qari allegedly tortures girl for not memorising lesson

MULTAN: A young girl in Multan was tortured at the hands of her madrasa teacher for not memorising a lesson. The Qari placed a nail on the child’s tongue, which subsequently penetrated her throat. The child was later taken to hospital.

Dr Amjad Rao, from MS Nishtar Hospital, has reported that the child’s condition has now improved and is deemed satisfactory.

In response to the incident, the Federal Minister for Human Rights has taken notice and said that legal action will be pursued against the madrasa teacher.

Earlier, a 13-year-old boy, who was beaten and tortured by a seminary teacher in Lahore two days back, succumbed to head injuries on Sunday, doctors and police said.

The boy, Anas, 13, who had skipped the seminary classes due to rain, was tortured by the seminary teacher, identified as Shoab. The boy had suffered serious head injuries, doctors said.

The boy remained in the hospital for two days, however, he succumbed to his wounds.
