Mustafa Amir Murder: Armaghan willing to confess

Armaghan fraud willing to confess in Mustafa Amir murder case

KARACHI: The prime suspect in the Mustafa Amir murder case, Armaghan, has expressed his willingness to confess his crime before the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC), defense lawyer Tahir Tanoli stated.

Following this, the court directed Armaghan to record his confession before a judicial magistrate. Tanoli added that the suspect has been under severe distress, which influenced his decision to admit guilt.

Armaghan was presented before the ATC after completing his physical remand in the Mustafa Amir murder case. During the hearing, he refused to accept the new attorney appointed by his father, citing a lack of trust in him. The situation escalated, leading to police personnel escorting Armaghan’s father out of the courtroom after a disruption.

Earlier, the defense lawyer had requested permission for Armaghan’s parents to enter the courtroom, assuring the court there would be no disturbances. However, his father’s behaviour led to his removal.

Armaghan firmly rejected his father’s chosen lawyer and refused to meet him, declaring, “I do not want this lawyer; I have no connection with my father.”

The ATC has requested a progress report for the next hearing. Meanwhile, security at the ATC complex has been tightened, with journalists restricted from entering without authorisation from senior officials.

Armaghan’s father, who was earlier denied entry, submitted a formal request seeking permission to meet his son. In his plea, he argued that discussing the change of attorney was essential for a fair trial, and denying the meeting would be a violation of fundamental human rights.
