NAB initiates inquiry into Bahria Enclave land deals

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) also launched an investigation into land transactions linked to Bahria Enclave amid ongoing probes into other notable cases, including the Al-Qadir Trust case.

Bahria Enclave was reportedly originally designated by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) for a zoo. The land was later allegedly acquired by Bahria Town “under suspicion”. Meanwhile, the Al-Qadir Trust case involves alleged corruption between Bahria Town Chairman Malik Riaz and former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The Al-Qadir Trust case has been at the center of recent NAB activities. The two parties face allegations of corruption and “misuse of authority”. The case revolves around a property deal linked to the trust, which reportedly has ties to Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi.

Earlier, NAB conducted a raid on Bahria Town’s Rawalpindi office to collect relevant documents for the investigations. The objective of the raid was to secure documents and records that could serve as evidence in these transactions.

Malik Riaz has denied any involvement in the case. He claimed that the investigations were driven by “political motives”. The Bahria Town chairman also stated that he would not be exploited for “political gains”.
