ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, while fiercely criticising Bushra Bibi for luring supporters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) into “attacking” Islamabad, ruled out the option of negotiations with the protesting party.
Talking to media at D-Chowk in Islamabad on Tuesday, he further clarified that talks are an option for peaceful individuals, not for armed “miscreants” who vandalise everything that comes their way. So, he added, “There will be no negotiations with PTI at this time.”
He also mentioned a meeting chaired by the prime minister, which resulted in the decision not to sit at the negotiation table with PTI under any circumstances.
Referring to the PTI protesters, he said: “People have now seen what kind of people they are, who came here just to take a toll on the federal capital… We feel the pain of the residents of Islamabad, which is why we gave as much relief as possible, including not suspending mobile services and not blocking roads.”
While blaming Bushra Bibi for the current unrest, the Interior Minister claimed that the PTI was seeking casualties to exploit for political gain, but the government chose to show restraint.
Again taking a jibe at Bushra Bibi, the minister said one lady is responsible for all the damage caused during the march. “Damage to life and property will be addressed, and action will be taken, especially against those responsible, including women,” he added.

On the occasion, Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar also spoke, reiterating the government’s resolve not to hold talks with PTI, whatever the circumstances.
He was of the view that it is easy to resort to force, but the government prefers to avoid it. However, he said, “The state should not be seen as weak.”
Tarar further said that the PTI protesters would no longer be allowed to advance, and if they attempted to do so, action would be taken.
He also advised Imran Khan to face the legal consequences of his actions in court, rather than seeking amnesty or special treatment.
When asked about the potential ban on PTI, Tarar replied that there is a formal procedure for such decisions. However, he stressed that those responsible for the violence and damage during the protests would not be spared.
Regarding the possibility of imposing governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Tarar warned that the government’s patience should not be tested. “Pakhtun are our brothers and we respect their mandate, but we should not be pushed to take strict actions.”
