Eid Milad un Nabi and Defence Day being celebrated tomorrow

ISLAMABAD: Preparations are in full swing across the country to celebrate Eid Milad-un-Nabi Sallallah-o-Alaih-e-Wasallam tomorrow (Saturday) with great religious zeal and reverence. The day will also coincide with Defence Day, marking a historic national occasion.

The government has declared a public holiday for both events.

This year carries added significance as it marks the 1500th Eid Milad-un-Nabi, for which both Houses of Parliament have passed a unanimous resolution.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs has finalised arrangements for an International Seerat Conference in Islamabad, to be attended by religious scholars, ulema, diplomats, and delegates from home and abroad.

A special Mehfil-e-Naat will also be organised in the federal capital today (Friday), featuring prominent Naat Khawans from across the country.

Cities, towns, and villages are being illuminated with green flags, buntings, and colourful lights. Mosques, government buildings, and markets are decorated, while religious and social organisations have planned programs to highlight the teachings and life of the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him).

Meanwhile, Defence Day will also be commemorated tomorrow to pay tribute to the martyrs and ghazis of the 1965 war.

The day will dawn with a 31-gun salute in Islamabad and 21-gun salute in provincial capitals. Special prayers will be offered for the country’s security, prosperity, and the independence of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, rallies, seminars, and ceremonies will be held with simplicity due to ongoing flood devastation. Fateha and Quran Khawani will be offered for the martyrs, while people will visit their graves to lay wreaths.

Radio Pakistan and PTV will air special transmissions to highlight the significance of both historic days.
