NEPRA announces price hike of Rs1.74

ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) announced an increase in electricity price of Rs1.74 on Wednesday.
The latest electricity price hike would impact all consumers throughout the country, including major urban centres like Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.

The adjustment was officially communicated through a notification. It was categorised under the quarterly review.
As stated in the notification, the increase in electricity prices will affect consumers nationwide and is part of the quarterly adjustment for the period spanning April to June 2024.
The change is projected to add an extra financial burden of around Rs43.23 billion on the public.

A beleaguered public already combating free-fall inflation and skyrocketing prices will now face repercussions for yet another increase in electricity.
