New polio case reported from KP

WEB DESK: A nine-month-old child in the Orakzai district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been confirmed to be infected with the poliovirus.

The Ministry of Health’s spokesperson revealed on Saturday that this latest case brings the total number of polio cases in the country for the year to six. The confirmation of the poliovirus in 20 environmental samples from 12 different districts across the nation is particularly alarming.

Expressing his concern, the spokesperson emphasized that another child in our country has fallen victim to the virus, underscoring the heightened risk for children under the age of five.

He appealed to parents, urging them to administer polio drops to their children as a crucial preventive measure against the poliovirus.
