No rain in sight, Lahore retains its position as most polluted city

LAHORE: Lahore continues to rank as the world’s most polluted city, with an overall Air Quality Index (AQI) of 275. Meteorologists report no chances of rain, leaving residents to endure worsening air quality.
Several areas in the city recorded alarming AQI levels exceeding 300. Model Town recorded the highest pollution level at 386, followed by 326 at CEPR Office. Shimla Pahari and Johar Town also reported hazardous AQI levels at 296 and 291, respectively.
According to the Met Office, rain is expected in scattered locations across Pakistan including Islamabad and its surrounding areas.
Rain is also predicted for Balochistan areas of Qalat, Khuzdar, Qila Abdullah, and Dera Bugti may experience rain. Rain is also expected in Naseerabad, Jhal Magsi, Bolan, and Jafarabad.
Task force set-up to counter anti-state propaganda
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa areas of Zhob, Sherani, Musakhel, and Kohistan are likely to see rain. Similar weather is expected in Karak, Mardan, Nowshera, and Swabi.
Rain is predicted for Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, and Murree. Foggy conditions will persist in Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Okara, Jhang, Multan, and Sahiwal.
Parts of Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur, and Kot Addu may see light rain.
Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are likely to experience rain with snowfall over the mountains.
Thunderstorms are also possible in parts of Dera Ghazi Khan and surrounding areas.
