According to reports, the protest took place within the jurisdiction of Azakhel Police Station. Law enforcement action followed failed negotiations with the protesters. Security personnel used tear gas and fired shots to disperse the crowd. One individual sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital.

A total of 24 individuals were arrested during the incident. Police have registered a case against those involved, including dozens of unidentified persons. Authorities allege that protesters damaged government property and threw stones at police personnel. One officer was reportedly injured.

The arrested individuals were moved to an undisclosed location, police sources said.

Today (Wednesday), following the arrests, the detainees have announced a hunger strike to protest what they described as inhumane treatment by the police. They are expected to be presented in a local court today.

No official statement has been issued yet regarding the injured protester or the status of the electricity issue in the area.

Protests over lengthy periods of load shedding are not an uncommon occurrence in Pakistan. Last year, in September, residents from the Palosi area and neighbouring localities in Peshawar blocked Warsak Road for several hours, demanding immediate restoration of electricity. Protestors, in Tehkal too, shut down University Road, causing long queues of vehicles as commuters were left stranded in the scorching heat.
