Online verification made mandatory for imported vehicles

LAHORE: The Excise Department has made online verification of imported vehicles documents mandatory to maintain the integrity of vehicle registrations and prevent the use of counterfeit documents.

The decision comes as part of efforts to ensure transparency and prevent fraudulent registrations.

In this regard, authorities have imposed a ban on the registration of imported vehicles in Lahore without prior online verification of documents.

To this effect, an official letter has been sent to customs authorities, requesting access to online verification systems for imported vehicle documentation.

This collaboration seeks to streamline the registration process and ensure that only vehicles with genuine paperwork are registered.

Customs officials have clarified that vehicles purchased through auctions will also require verification before registration in a bid to curb the illegal registration of vehicles with forged documents.
