Over 20 Afghan citizens released from Pakistani prisons, Afghan media reports

KABUL: Local officials from the Taliban administration have announced that 21 Afghan prisoners have been transferred back to Afghanistan after their release from jails in Karachi, Afghanistan’s news service The Khaama Press reported on Monday.

According to the reports, these individuals were freed from on Sunday (May 26). These individuals had been imprisoned for 21 to 71 days due to a lack of residency documents.
Officials have stated that these individuals have been referred to the International Organization for Migration for assistance.
Previously, Abdul Jabbar Takhari, Afghanistan’s consul general in Pakistan, reported the release of 23 Afghan prisoners, including women and children, from Karachi jails. Takhari said that currently, around 40 Afghan prisoners remain in the jails of Sindh province.
