Pakistan customs seizes smuggled goods worth billions

KARACHI: Pakistan Customs Intelligence has recovered contraband worth billions of rupees in coordinated efforts across the country.
According to sources, in a recent operation in Karachi, Customs Intelligence seized smuggled goods with an estimated value of PKR150 million.
The sources reported that the illicit items, which included cigarettes, beauty creams, shampoos, toothpastes, and ladies’ bags, were concealed in a residence located in Pakistan Employees Cooperative Housing Society (PECHS).
The Customs official told HUM News that three alleged individuals involved in the smuggling operation were arrested on the spot, while authorities continue their search for three fugitive suspects.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, Pakistan Customs Enforcement in Quetta recovered a colossal 1637-tons of sugar worth PKR1 billion.
Similarly, operations in Dera Ismail Khan and Karachi resulted in the confiscation of thousands of liters of Iranian diesel and petrol, further disrupting illegal trade.
Amid the operations, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has lauded Pakistan Customs for its swift and effective actions against smuggling.
“The dedication displayed by Pakistan Customs in combating the menace of smuggling is commendable, the FBR Chief said.
