Pakistan-India war: Battle-hardened PAF pilots to appear on TV

Pakistan-India war

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) pilots, who established their superiority against India during the recent war, are set to make first appearance on TV later today (Thursday).

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Air Staff Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of Army Staff Gen Asim Munir and others.

The move comes after the PAF pilots defeated their Indian counterparts, downing at least six fighter jets, which included French-made Rafale.

May 7 saw the biggest dogfight in modern history when around 80 Indian jets tried to target Pakistan with air-to-surface missiles. They managed to hit some civilian targets, but a swift response by the PAF meant that none of them able to enter the Pakistani airspace.

The PAF suffered no losses and it crippled the Indian air force.

Earlier, Pakistan had managed to jam the Indian aircraft as they attempted flew around the Line of Control and the Working Boundary a few days before May 7.

IT’S NOT JUST CHINESE WEAPONS

Militaries around the world are now studying how Pakistan managed to thwart the Indian aggression. India was certainly superior on paper, but failed miserably in practical.

That is an expert said there are several factors contributing to battleground effectiveness.

“It’s very easy to generalise, to say this Chinese weapons system is superior. But at the same time, it’s also the training of the pilots, the coordination among different weapons systems that are important,” she said.

INDIA CAN NEVER BE A REGIONAL COP

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said India’s dream of acting as ‘a cop in the region’ had been shattered, as he asked his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi to check his actions.

Addressing Modi, Shehbaz warned him against violating the Indus Waters Treaty and repeated the earlier offer to hold an impartial investigation into the Pahalgam attack.
