The information minister pointed out that India initiated the recent missile attacks, stressing that it is important to recognise such an act of aggression. “It is important to acknowledge that aggression was initiated by India”, he said.
Tarar added that India is responsible for reducing tensions in the region. “India carried out the missile attacks; it is responsible for reducing the tensions”.
The minister noted that the current situation is marked by escalating tensions between the two nuclear-armed states. “As the tension is increasing, we have to see which way the situation goes”.
He indicated that Pakistan was closely monitoring developments and is prepared to respond as necessary.
The backdrop to Tarar’s latest statements includes a series of military confrontations and accusations exchanged between the two South Asian neighbours. The situation has escalated in recent weeks, with both nations accusing each other of aggression and violations of sovereignty.
Pakistan has consistently rejected Indian claims of involvement in terrorist activities. Tarar framed these allegations as part of a broader narrative aimed at justifying military actions against Pakistan. He stated that Pakistan was committed to addressing terrorism while rejecting any unfounded claims from India.

The Indian government led by Hindu-nationalist Narendra Modi has consistently used anti-Pakistan sentiments in his election speeches. The hardliner has accused Pakistan of supporting terrorism with no evidence and has resorted to military response. This has included missile strikes and other military operations around the Line of Control.
In response, Pakistan downed over five Indian jets and several drones, while also conducting retaliatory strikes into Indian territory.
