Pakistan Railways offers 20 per cent Eid discount on all train fares

LAHORE: Pakistan Railways has announced a 20 per cent reduction in train fares for Eidul Fitr, offering relief to passengers travelling during the occasion.

This discount will apply to all mail, express, and intercity trains across the country, as per an official notification issued by the department.

The fare reduction will be valid for all three days of Eid, and will also apply to advance bookings, allowing commuters to plan their journeys ahead. However, the discount will not be applicable to special Eid trains, which will operate on selected routes.

Pakistan Railways has directed all booking offices to implement the discount, ensuring passengers enjoy more affordable travel during the Eid holidays.

The department previously released a schedule for five special Eid trains, which will operate on various routes nationwide. These trains will include economy class, AC Business, and AC Standard coaches, catering to a wide range of passengers.

In a related development, the federal government has announced official Eid holidays from Monday, March 31, to Wednesday, April 2, 2025, according to a notification from the Cabinet Division.
