Pakistan Railways train fares to be increased from December 1

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Railways train fares will increase by 5 per cent effective from December 1, as stated in the notification released on Wednesday.

This marks the third adjustment in the last three months, resulting in a cumulative increase of 25 per cent. The decision has been made to navigate economic challenges and address the impact of fuel price fluctuations.

After the hike, the Lahore to Karachi train’s latest ticket price in December 2023 will be approximately 4200.

The recent adjustments follow a pattern initiated on August 10, with a 10 per cent increase in Pakistan Railways train faress, followed by an additional 2 per cent hike in September.

Separately, last month, Pakistan Railways announced its intention to modernize and commercialize the Rawalpindi Railway Station, aiming to transform it into a commercial hub to enhance revenue generation for the department.
