Pakistan slams Modi’s ‘reckless’, ‘provocative’ remarks

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Tuesday strongly condemned Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent remarks, calling them hate-driven and deeply disturbing.

The Foreign Office urged the international community to take serious notice of India’s rising belligerence, warning that such rhetoric threatens regional peace and stability.

“These remarks, made in Gujarat during what resembled more of an election rally than a responsible address by the head of a nuclear state, are alarming,” Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan said in a statement.

“They reflect not only a disturbing content but also set a dangerous precedent in an already volatile region.”

The spokesperson criticised the tone and intent of the Indian Prime Minister Modi’s remarks saying they undermine diplomatic norms and breach the United Nations Charter, which requires all member states to resolve disputes peacefully and avoid threats or use of force against other nations.

Khan said Pakistan sees Modi’s statements as a “reckless provocation,” meant to divert global attention from India’s human rights violations and demographic changes in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Pakistan ready to hold talks, if India is serious: Shehbaz

“Pakistan’s contributions to UN peacekeeping and its cooperation in global counter-terrorism efforts are well-recognised,” the spokesperson noted.

“If extremism is a genuine concern for India, it should reflect on the rise of majoritarianism, religious intolerance, and the systematic marginalisation of minorities under the Hindutva ideology.”

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace based on mutual respect and sovereign equality. However, he added that any threat to Pakistan’s security or territorial integrity would be met with firm and proportionate response, as per Article 51 of the UN Charter.
