Pakistan to sell JF-17 fighters to Azerbaijan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s military said on Thursday that the country has recently signed a contract to sell JF-17 Block III (Thunder) fighter jets to Azerbaijan.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that the purpose of the agreement was to enhance Azerbaijan’s air power. Azerbaijan’s president Ilham Aliyev was briefed on the aircraft’s combat capabilities during his last visit in July.

The JF-17 Thunder is an advanced lightweight fighter aircraft that was developed as a joint venture between the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex Kamra (PAC) and the Chengdu Aircraft Industry Corporation of China (CAC).
According to PACs website, the JF-17 Thunder possesses “excellent air to air and air to surface combat capabilities” as well as “state-of-the art avionics, optimally integrated sub-systems, computerized flight controls and capability to employ latest weapons.”

The ISPR said that the agreement will strengthen the friendly relations between the two countries.
A statement from the Presidents office on Wednesday stated “the jets have already been integrated into the arsenal of Azerbaijan’s Air Force.”
