Pakistan Women’s cricket team makes history in New Zealand

DUNEDIN: Pakistan women’s cricket team won the series by defeating the New Zealand team in the ongoing T20 series in New Zealand in the second match in a row.

The second T20 match of the series between Pakistan and New Zealand was played in Dunedin. Batting first, team green set a target of 138 runs in 20 overs, in reply the NZ players could only score 127 runs in the stipulated overs.

Muniba Ali and Alia Riaz played an innings of 35 and 32 runs, respectively, from Pakistan Women’s team.

Among the Pakistani bowlers, Fatima Sana took three wickets and Sadia Iqbal took two wickets to pave the way for the team’s victory. The Afghan Cricket Board expressed its desire to make Salman Butt a batting consultant.

Pakistan won the second match by 10 wickets to clinch the series 2-0. The final match of the series will be played in Queenstown on December 9.

After the national team’s T20 series against New Zealand, a 3-day ODI series is also scheduled.
