Pakistani govt officer illegally moves family to Europe, seeks asylum

ISLAMABAD: In a shocking turn of events, a senior Pakistani officer exploited the office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to move to Europe before filing a case, seeking asylum for his entire family.
Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has taken notice of this misconduct and recommended strict action against the officer involved.
Dar confirmed this development to the Hum Investigation Team, stating that he has written a letter to the head of the government institution where the officer is currently serving.
Officials confirmed that the government official used resources of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to get access to Europe and settle his family there. The entire family of the said officer applied for asylum in Switzerland and settled there, sources confirmed.

This case is not isolated, as numerous government officials holding important positions have sought asylum in recent years.
Foreign Minister Dar has been informed about the situation, as such actions are causing significant embarrassment to the country, officials said.
Dar reiterated his call for action against the officer, confirming that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is also investigating those who facilitated the officer.
This incident is not an isolated one, as over 200 government officials have sought asylum in the past decade, often using their positions to gain access to foreign countries before filing their asylum pleas on various grounds.
