BEIJING (APP): The ongoing five-day China-Eurasia Commodity and Trade Expo in Urumqi, the capital city of China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, has witnessed the spotlight shift to Pakistani mangoes, as they take center stage at the festival.

The festival has become a platform for a vast number of visitors to indulge in the sweet and succulent allure of the ‘king of fruits’.

Ghulam Qadir, the Commercial Counsellor of the Pakistan Embassy in Beijing, highlighted the display of diverse mango varieties by top Pakistani exporters, including Sindhri, Chaunsa, and Anwar Ratol. “Beyond its culinary delight, this event signifies the vigor of cultural exchange and economic collaboration,” remarked Qadir.

He further noted, “Pakistani mangoes hold an esteemed place within Pakistan’s agricultural landscape and cultural tapestry. Revered for their exquisite aroma and delightful taste, they have captivated the palates of fruit enthusiasts globally.”

The festival’s appeal extends beyond mangoes. Ghulam Qadir pointed out the opportunity for visitors to explore an array of stalls showcasing various Pakistani products, textiles, handicrafts, and more. This intercultural interchange bridges gaps, promoting cultural diplomacy and nurturing connections founded on mutual respect and curiosity.

Under the invitation of the Urumqi government, Senator Rana Mehmood Ul Hassan is leading a six-member delegation from the Senate of Pakistan. The expo also features participation from 20 leading mango exporters from Multan.

Under the theme “Promoting the Silk Road Spirit, Strengthening Eurasian Cooperation,” this year’s expo covers an expansive exhibition space of 70,000 square meters. Over 1,300 businesses from 40 countries, including Pakistan, have convened at the event, with 25 of the world’s top 500 companies among the attendees.

Pakistani exhibitors are showcasing the nation’s cultural and traditional products at the event. The expo’s itinerary features 33 trade and investment promotional activities, alongside forums addressing topics like regional economic cooperation.

The China-Eurasia Commodity and Trade Expo, held three times since 2015, has attracted more than 3,700 businesses from 47 countries and regions, reaffirming its significance as a platform for international collaboration and exchange.
