Pakistani Twitter records protest against inflated electricity bills

ISLAMABAD: The hashtag #ElectricityBills trended on Pakistani Twitter on Sunday, with people expressing their dissatisfaction and protesting against the inflated electricity bills they received for the month of July.

Protests also erupted across multiple cities on Sunday as citizens voiced their discontent over the escalating cost of electricity. The protesters carrying placards chanted slogans against the government.
They urged the government to do away with extra taxes and give relief to the masses already reeling under superinflation.
Protests were held in numerous locales, including Multan, Faisalabad, Nowshera, Bahawalpur, Sadiq Abad, Hujra Shah Muqeem, Okara, Kasur, Malakand, and Gujranwala, among others.
