Parents demand immediate repatriation of Pakistani students from Bishkek

ISLAMABAD: Amid growing concerns over the safety of Pakistani students in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, parents have urged the government to take swift action to bring their children back home following a mob attack which has left many students injured.
The incident, which occurred in the capital city of Bishkek, involved Pakistani students who reportedly faced severe harassment and violence at the hands of a local mob. This unfortunate episode has led to widespread anxiety among the families of the students, compelling them to demand immediate repatriation.
Parents, distressed by the reports, have been vocal in their calls for the government to facilitate the safe return of their children. “We urge the authorities to act swiftly. Our children’s safety is paramount, and we want them back home immediately,” said one concerned parent.

Many students in Bishkek talking to several media outlets and on social media have expressed concerns over their safety and have also asked the government to ensure their safety and take measures to bring them back home.
PM DIRECTS TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS TO BRING HOME INJURED STUDENTS
In response to the incident, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the Pakistani embassy in Kyrgyzstan to offer all necessary support to the students and to maintain open lines of communication with their families. The embassy has also been tasked with providing timely updates on the situation.
The prime minister asked him to personally visit the hostels of Pakistani students and meet them, PM Office Media Wing said in a press release.
The ambassador apprised the prime minister that Pakistani students were safe and those injured were being assisted by the embassy.
The prime minister advised him to remain in contact with the parents and provide them timely information, adding that immediate arrangements should be made for those injured Pakistani students who wanted to return to Pakistan.
The government would bear all the expenses in this regard, he said.
The prime minister, expressing his concerns, further said that he was monitoring the situation himself and would not leave the students alone in this situation.
The Government of Pakistan was in contact with the Kyrgyz government, he added.
