The DG PDMA stated that the concerned departments were on a “high alert” to effectively manage any emergency situations that may arise. District Emergency Operation Centers (ECO) alongside the Provincial Control Room were activated to coordinate response efforts and provide assistance where needed.
The DG Irfan Ali Kathia said that the situation was under “continuous monitoring” at the control room to ensure a “quick” and “coordinated response” to any developments. He also said that rescue agencies, including 1122, were advised to keep their machinery and staff on standby to respond immediately to “any incident”.
Specific reports indicate heavy rain in and around the city of Hujra Shah Muqeem in Punjab. This raised concerns about potential damage to the wheat crop. Pakpattan is also experiencing rain accompanied by strong winds. Similarly, a thunderstorm has been reported in and around Fort Abbas, Bahalwalpur district.
PDMA has warned that the series of rains and storms are forecasted to persist until Sunday.
