KARACHI: In a concerning development, a flight attendant from Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has reportedly gone missing in Canada, bringing the total number of air stewards who have vanished abroad this year to five.

Sources reveal that Steward Ayaz Qureshi, hailing from Lahore, arrived in Canada from Pakistan on PIA flight PK 784. It is believed that Ayaz voluntarily went missing, adding to the growing list of similar incidents involving PIA flight attendants.

This marks the third instance this year of a PIA flight attendant allegedly disappearing while in Canada, that has also heightened concerns about the safety and security of airline personnel abroad.

In response to the incident, a spokesperson for the national airline confirmed that Ayaz has been suspended from duty, and Canadian authorities have been notified about his disappearance. The airline assures that strict departmental action will be taken against the missing steward, emphasising their commitment to addressing such matters with urgency.

The repeated occurrences of flight attendants going missing abroad have prompted a closer examination of the circumstances surrounding these incidents, with both PIA and relevant authorities working together that employees adhere to and comply with the established rules and regulations.
