PIA plane grounded after bird strike; passengers take another flight

PIA leaves passengers

ISLAMABAD: A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight bound from Islamabad to Quetta encountered a bird strike incident during its morning journey, the airline’s spokesperson informed earlier in the day.

Flight PK325 was struck by a bird, resulting in the activation of safety protocols to ensure the well-being of all passengers on board, the spokesperson stated. Thankfully, all passengers remained unharmed despite the unexpected encounter.

“As a precautionary measure, the aircraft was safely landed back in Islamabad,” the spokesperson said. However, the aircraft sustained partial damage from the bird strike, prompting arrangements for a replacement plane to accommodate affected passengers. Passengers were promptly rescheduled for a 12:30 PM flight to Quetta to minimise disruptions to their travel plans, as per PIA’s announcement.

Further investigation into the incident revealed that the bird had struck engine number 2 of the aircraft, leading to damage to the engine blades. Consequently, the grounded plane awaits repairs as a team of engineers diligently works to rectify the damage.
