PM Shehbaz announces formation of world-class anti-riot force

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that those who violate the law during sit-ins and damage government property should be punished.

PM Sharif, while addressing the task force meeting set up to investigate the riots during the November 24 sit-in, said that the progress on legal action against those who spread chaos will be reviewed weekly.

The prime minister said that the massacre on the federal capital during the visit of the President of Belarus caused great embarrassment. Therefore, a world-class anti-riot force will be formed according to the requirements of the present era, so that such incidents can be prevented in the future.

PM Shehbaz Sharif said that a forensic lab of international standards will also be added to Islamabad Safe City. He added that all necessary resources will be utilised to bring the lab up to global levels.

The Prime Minister was informed during the meeting that weapons, cartridge shells and other evidence have been collected from the scene of the incident. All evidence will be sent for forensics, the PM was told by the authorities concerned.
