QUETTA: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Quetta on a one-day visit to attend a peace jirga and review law and order in Balochistan.

The visit also includes an inquiry into the recent Surab blast and a visit to injured victims.

According to officials, the Prime Minister was received at the Quetta airport by Acting Governor Abdul Khaliq Achakzai, Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, and senior government officers.

Sources say the purpose of the visit is to strengthen coordination between tribal leaders, political figures, and the administration for restoring peace in the province.

PM Shehbaz will attend a major jirga on law and order in Quetta. Tribal elders and politicians from across Balochistan have been invited.

The Prime Minister will visit the Command and Staff College in Quetta

The jirga will discuss the current security situation and steps to build trust at the local level.

The Prime Minister wants to take all stakeholders on board and include their input in the national policy, sources added.

The gathering is part of a broader effort by the federal and provincial governments to engage communities in decision-making processes.

Later, PM Shehbaz is also expected to visit the injured of the Surab explosion and express solidarity with victims and their families.
