PM Shehbaz Sharif pays tribute to Dr Ruth Pfau on her death anniversary

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has paid glowing tribute to the late Dr Ruth Pfau on her death anniversary, lauding her lifelong dedication to serving Pakistan.

In a statement issued on the occasion, the PM Sharif said that Dr Pfau spent every moment of her life in the service of the people of Pakistan, particularly those from the middle and underprivileged classes.

He hailed her work in the treatment and eradication of leprosy as “a bright chapter in our national history” and emphasised that her selfless contributions will always be remembered with pride.

“The Pakistani nation will always hold Dr Ruth Pfau’s services in the highest regard,” the Prime Minister said, adding that her mission embodied “a message of service, compassion and humanity” for all.

Dr Ruth Pfau, a German-born physician and nun, dedicated over five decades of her life to combating leprosy in Pakistan, earning her the title of the country’s ‘Mother Teresa’. She passed away in 2017 at the age of 87.
