ISLAMABAD: Taking notice of a large number of complaints and protests regarding load shedding in various areas of the country Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has summoned a high level meeting.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister will be given a detailed briefing regarding the demand and supply of electricity and load shedding by the officials of the power ministry.
In the meeting, progress on the ongoing actions against electricity theft will also be reviewed, while the problems faced in the provinces regarding electricity will also be discussed in the meeting.
It is worth noting that across the country, citizens are struggling with announced and unannounced load-shedding in the extreme heat.

PROTESTS AGAINST LOAD-SHEDDING
Protests against load-shedding have erupted in various cities, including Karachi, where residents have taken to the streets, burning tires and blocking roads to voice their frustration. The business community reports that the power cuts are crippling their operations, and students find it nearly impossible to study in the intense heat. Homemakers are also experiencing significant mental stress due to frequent power outages.
In many areas, power cuts lasts up to 18 hours a day, making it difficult for residents to get any rest, even at night. In Karachi, citizens recently blocked roads and burned tires to protest the power cuts, causing traffic jams and widespread disruption. The demonstrators chanted slogans against K-Electric, demanding immediate restoration of power.
In Peshawar, prolonged load shedding of 12 to 16 hours has disrupted daily life, leading residents to block the Peshawar M-9 Motorway to Charsadda in protest. The ongoing power crisis and the public’s growing frustration underscore the urgent need for sustainable solutions to Pakistan’s energy challenges.
