Extreme heat persists nationwide

WEB DESK: On Tuesday, the weather will remain extremely hot and dry in most of the plains of the country, with a possibility of wind and storm in the afternoon, says Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

Islamabad will experience very hot and dry weather, particularly in Gir two areas. Windy and gusty conditions are expected in the afternoon, with temperatures likely to be 3 to 5 degrees Celsius higher than normal.

In Punjab, most of the plain districts will be under the influence of a severe heatwave, with a possibility of wind and storm in the afternoon. Daytime temperatures are expected to be 4 to 6 degrees Celsius higher than normal. The weather in Murree, Gulyat and surrounding areas is likely to remain dry.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will also see very hot weather in most of the plain districts, with a possibility of wind and storm in the afternoon. Temperatures are expected to be 4 to 6 degrees Celsius higher than normal.

In Sindh, most of the upper districts will remain under the influence of a severe heatwave, while the coastal areas will experience hot and humid weather. There is a possibility of wind and storm during the day, with temperatures in the upper districts likely to be 6 to 8 degrees Celsius higher than normal.

AccuWeather predicts that Balochistan will have hazy sunshine and windy conditions in the afternoon with a high of 33 degrees. Tonight, it will be breezy in the evening, otherwise clear with a low of 16 degrees.

Kashmir will experience hot and dry weather. Gilgit-Baltistan will also have hot and dry weather, says PMD.

On a related note, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert for potential dust, wind, and rain in the upper areas until June 1. According to an NDMA spokesperson, institutions concerned have been advised to remain vigilant.

Traffic systems may be disrupted due to landslides, and there is a risk of flooding in rivers and canals in these regions. Relevant institutions have been instructed to keep commissary supplies and staff on alert to handle any emergency situations. Tourists and travellers are urged to exercise caution while journeying through mountainous areas in light of possible landslides.
