KARACHI: Authorities in Karachi have enforced section 144 of the constitution along the city’s coastline, specifically at Hawke’s Bay, in response to concerns over public safety amid the ongoing sea flooding.
Despite road closures and warnings, police have arrested five people who attempted to visit the shoreline for a swim.

Enforcing Section 144 in Karachi aims to prevent public gatherings and ensure compliance with regulations, safeguarding citizens from risks linked to sea flooding.
Police officials urged residents in the 17-million-strong city to refrain from visiting the coastline due to the danger posed by the sea’s flooding.
Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) grants district administrations the authority to issue orders in the public interest, enabling them to impose bans on specific activities for designated periods.
