ISLAMABAD: The Practice and Procedure Amendment Ordinance, which allows changes to the committee formulated to regulate the affairs of the top court, has been challenged in the Supreme Court on Tuesday.
Advocate Chaudhry Ehtesham-ul-Haq has filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the Practice and Procedure Amendment Ordinance.
The petitioner argues that the ordinance is against the principles of parliamentary democracy and highlights that the Supreme Court has previously ruled that ordinances can only be issued in emergencies.

The petition requests the court to declare the ordinance unconstitutional and to suspend its implementation until a final decision is made on the case.
It is noteworthy that the ordinance was also challenged in the Lahore High Court, where a similar plea was made to halt its enforcement until the case is resolved.
Legal experts have raised concerns over the ordinance, questioning its implications on judicial procedures and the functioning of the Supreme Court.
