In a first, caretaker govt to present budget in Punjab

LAHORE: The final budget announcement date is still on the horizon. However, in an unprecedented move in the province’s history, plans are afoot to set aside PKR330 billion for the creation of a budget for the initial four months of fiscal year 2023-24.

Following the unveiling of the federal budget on June 9, recommendations for the province’s development budget for the subsequent four months are set to be submitted to the interim cabinet for approval.

The proposed budget encompasses substantial allocations, such as PKR70 b for health, PKR28 b for primary and secondary education, PKR13 b for agriculture, PKR12 b for urban development, and PKR10 b for higher education, among others.

Additionally, a suggestion to allocate roughly PKR30 b for foreign-funded development projects is also on the table.
