Protest at Numaish Chowrangi ends following violent clashes

KARACHI: The recent protest at Numaish Chowrangi officially came to an end, following a series of violent clashes between protestors and law enforcement authorities.
Law enforcers also arrested over 300 protestors, with several officers injured during the clashes.

The unrest began on Tuesday when protestors from the Majlis-e-Wahdatul-Muslimeen (MWM) gathered to voice grievances related to recent incidents near the Afghan border.
Tensions escalated rapidly as protestors and law enforcers clashed. The law enforcement agencies claim the protestors used stones, batons ad gunfire against the officers.
The violence reportedly resulted in six officers being injured, including a sub-inspector. Security agencies also held the protestors responsible for destruction to property, including four motorcycles and damage to a police vehicle.
Authorities charged 19 people with serious offenses, including rioting, attempted murder, vandalism, terrorism and assaulting officers.
The Karachi traffic police also reported disruptions across the city of 18 million, with major roads, such as MA Jinnah Road and Kamran Chowrangi blocked due to the protest by MWM.

Late on Wednesday, the protest at Numaish Chowrangi was called off by the party leaders.
