PTI denounces arrest warrants for Gandapur, other party leaders

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has vehemently denounced the issuance of arrest warrants for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and other party leaders.

The PTI spokesperson described the move as “a grave assault on the federation’s unity and a blatant disregard for the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s electoral mandate, orchestrated through contrived and unfounded legal charges.”

“The misappropriation of the public’s trust as a means to empower criminals, under the guise of governance, continues unabated,” stated the spokesperson. “The unwarranted arrest warrants against the democratically elected Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, based on spurious and ludicrous allegations, constitute a flagrant insult to the province’s citizens and an incendiary act.”

The spokesperson posed a question: “Should similar warrants be issued for the prime minister or the chief minister of Punjab from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, what stance would the federation assume?”

“Interpreting our commitment to constitutional, legal, and democratic principles as a sign of weakness only emboldens those intent on steering the nation towards unconstitutional measures,” the spokesperson asserted.

“National unity and solidarity hinge on the federation’s stability and reciprocal respect. Actions that undermine these principles threaten to inflict lasting damage on our collective unity,” they warned.

The spokesperson urged decision-makers, both hidden and visible, to exercise prudence and cease exploiting the federation through baseless legal actions and vengeful tactics.

Earlier on Tuesday, an Anti-Terrorism Court in Rawalpindi issued arrest warrants for PTI leaders including Ali Amin Gandapur in connection with the May 9 incidents.

The court also ordered the arrest of PTI’s current and former leaders including Shahbaz Gill, Musarrat Jamshed Cheema, Murad Saeed, Shabbir Awan, Shireen Mazari, and Shibli Faraz.
