PTI announces plans to move Peshawar High Court against ECP

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has declared its intention to contest the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) decision to postpone the Senate elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, stating they will challenge the move in the Peshawar High Court (PHC).
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar, addressing the media, strongly opposed the postponement and said that the party and the provincial government rejects such a decision. He asserted that the party will legally challenge the ECP’s ruling. He also asserting PTI’s right to reserved seats by way of alliance with Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC).

“We cannot be legally deprived of reserved seats,” he said, adding, “We have already filed an application in the Supreme Court for these seats, and the now we will file another application against the postponement of the election.”
Highlighting the party’s stance on the matter, Barrister Gohar announced plans for a meeting of party leaders to deliberate on the unfolding situation. He underscored the party’s affiliation with the SIC, stressing that they had structured their participation accordingly.
“We are not independent candidates,” said Barrister Gohar, adding, “We joined the Sunni Ittehad Council, providing a structured framework for certain seats, with the name of the Sunni Ittehad Council included in this arrangement.”

Moreover, Barrister Gohar revealed PTI’s pursuit of additional seats in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly. He said that the opposition’s has 17 seats in the assembly and they are asking for 30 more.
ALI AMIN GANDAPUR’S ARREST WARRANTS CANCELLED
In a related development, it was disclosed that the non-bailable arrest warrant issued in the Long March case involving Ali Amin Gandapur has been cancelled. The decision marks a significant turn in the legal proceedings surrounding the case.
Looking ahead, Barrister Gohar announced plans for post-Eid mobilisation, indicating that former PTI chairman Imran Khan will lead street protests in support of PTI’s cause.
