ISLAMABAD: Given Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) planned protest at D-Chowk tomorrow (Friday), over 4000 police personnel will be deployed at all the exit and entry points into Islamabad.

PTI leader and Imran Khan had earlier announced the protest, leading to increased vigilance across the twin cities.

Focusing on securing entry points between Islamabad and Rawalpindi, police will deploy over 4,000 personnel to manage the situation and maintain law and order.

Several locations, including Faizabad, T-Chowk, and key intersections like Khanna Pul and Peshawar Road, will be sealed off with containers and barriers.

The police will begin implementing these measures from Thursday night, with the bulk of the force ready by Friday morning.

As per reports, more than 150 leaders and activists have already been detained. The police are continuing raids to arrest additional individuals, as PTI is accused of instigating unrest during their previous demonstrations.

Rawalpindi Chief Police Officer (CPO) Khalid Hamdani confirmed that the security arrangements are comprehensive, with thousands of police officers on duty to maintain peace.

The authorities plan to use CCTV cameras across the city to monitor any unlawful activity and identify perpetrators.

CPO Hamdani also emphasized the government’s zero-tolerance policy for any disruptions to public order or damage to property. He urged parents to discourage their children from participating in illegal activities during the protests.

This development comes amid rising political tensions as PTI gears up for what is expected to be a large-scale demonstration in the capital.

The government’s use of containers and heavy security in Islamabad has drawn criticism from PTI, who argue that the measures are aimed at suppressing their constitutional right to peaceful protest.
