Punjab announces summer vacations in schools

LAHORE: The Punjab Education Department has announced that summer vacations will begin from June 1 in schools throughout the province.

The decision comes in view of the soaring heat across the province.

Secretary School Education Khalid Nazir Wattoo stated that the schedule could be revised if temperatures spike further.

“If the heat intensifies, summer vacations may start a week earlier,” he said, stressing that student and teacher well-being is the top priority.

Many parents had expressed their concerns over the welfare of their children in view of the increasing temperature in the province and had demanded an earlier closure of schools.

Experts have warned that Pakistan is among the most vulnerable countries to climate change, with rising temperatures affecting education, health, and the economy.
