Punjab CTD foils terrorism bid, arrests RAW-affiliated Khawarij

LAHORE: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab on Friday foiled a major terrorism bid and captured three terrorists in Faisalabad, as they were planning to carry out attacks in different cities of the province.

According to the CTD spokesperson, the Indian proxies wanted to target Lahore, Pakpattan, Bahawalnagar and Bahawalpur for executing terrorist acts during the Eid days.

The law enforcers, the spokesperson said, had carried out an intelligence-based operation in Pathan Colony – a residential area located along the Jhang Road – where they made these arrests.

During the raid, they also seized a large quantity of arms and ammunition.

It is revealed that they have repeatedly crossed the border illegally and met the RAW representatives in Srinagar and Rajasthan to further the Indian agenda of promoting terrorism.

The CTD spokesperson said one of the arrested terrorist belonged to Minchinabad – a town and tehsil of Bahawalnagar district. Meanwhile, he added, the other two were from Bahawalnagar and Pakpattan.

When it comes to their working and close linkages with RAW, the CTD has found that they were sending the maps of sensitive locations to their Indian handlers while using WhatsApp.

Before their arrest, the three terrorists had completed planning for achieving the nefarious designs. However, the CTD’s timely action foiled the conspiracy.

On the other hand, the CTD has registered a case against the three and started investigation for extracting further information.

YOU CAN’T BE A REGIONAL COP

As Pakistan defeated Indian aggression last month, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif last month had made it clear that the Indian dream of acting as ‘a cop in the region’ had been shattered.

With New Delhi continuing to sponsor terrorism in Pakistan, Shehbaz said Modi should keep his sermons to himself, adding that the TTP, BLA and other terrorist outfits were clearly linked to India.

“Pakistan stands for peace. We want peace and development,” the prime minister stressed. At the same time, he said Pakistan’s desire for peace should not be equated with weakness.
