Rain expected across various regions in Pakistan: Met Office

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms in several regions across the country.

In Balochistan, rain is expected in Zhob, Musa Khel, Barkhan, and Khuzdar. The weather department has also predicted rain in various parts of Azad Kashmir and partially cloudy skies in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Punjab is likely to experience rain with strong winds and thunderstorms, particularly in the upper parts. Heavy rainfall is expected in some areas of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The forecast includes rain in Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Chakwal, and Attock. Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Lahore, and Kasur are also likely to see rain. Other areas in Punjab, such as Okara, Sheikhupura, Hafizabad, Narowal, Sialkot, and Mianwali, are expected to receive rain. Bhakkar, Layyah, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Jhang, and Toba Tek Singh are also on the list of regions where rain is likely. Rain is also forecasted for Sahiwal, Multan, Khanewal, Pakpattan, and Bahawalnagar.

Islamabad gets much-needed heavy rain, finally

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain is anticipated in Balakot, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Buner, Malakand, and Swat. Shangla, Battagram, Haripur, Swabi, Mardan, and Nowshera are also likely to experience rainfall. The forecast extends to Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Khyber, Bajaur, and Waziristan.

Peshawar, Kohat, and Kurram are expected to witness rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms.

The PMD has advised residents of these areas to take precautionary measures to mitigate any adverse effects of the expected weather conditions.

Coastal areas of Sindh are also expected to receive rain.

NO RESPITE FOR KARACHI

However, there is no respite for Karachi as the PMD has forecast hot and humid weather for the next 24 hours in the city.

With humidity levels recorded at 58% coupled with an 18-kilometre per hour sea breeze, the temperature in the city is expected to remain between 35°C and 36°C.

Despite the rising temperature, PMD has forecast that the metropolis will remain partly cloudy, with rain predicted for next week.

In the last 24 hours, the minimum temperature was recorded at 31°C. The first night of July was recorded as the hottest night of July since 2021.

The PMD has forecast that the normal temperatures in the month of July will remain around 27.9°C.
