Rains predicted as new weather system enters Pakistan

KARACHI: Rain and snow in the upper parts of the country are predicted as a strong westerly weather system has entered Pakistan.

According to weather pundits, the new system will not only bring rain in Punjab but will also affect 70 to 80 percent of the northern areas.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, and areas of Azad Jammu Kashmir will be affected, and there are chances of strong rain and snow in the mountains.

The weather system is however, unlikely to affect Sindh, and there are no chances of rain in the province through this system. However, Balochistan is likely to benefit from this system, and there are chances of snow in the mountains of Quetta, Ziarat, Zhob and Qila Saifullah.

Several areas of Punjab are likely to receive a good amount of rainfall from February 19 till February 21. Two to three spells of rain are likely to hit southern and central Punjab areas, and there are chances of hailstorms in some areas.

Two to three spells are also likely in Islamabad and its surrounding areas.
