Rawalpindi Ring Road plantation drive set to begin next week

RAWALPINDI: The Commissioner of Rawalpindi has announced the initiation of a plantation drive along both sides of the Rawalpindi Ring Road, set to commence on February 15.
Providing a progress update on the ambitious Ring Road project, the Commissioner assured that significant strides had already been made, with over 20 per cent of the physical work completed within the stipulated time frame.
Emphasising the importance of timely execution, he revealed that after finalising the traffic network design connecting the ring road with the motorway, the focus would shift to commencing work on the Thalian Interchange.
A crucial directive was issued regarding the swift completion of Sawan Bridge, stressing its importance in the overall project timeline.
Liaquat Ali Chatta, the official overseeing the development, urged the concerned authorities to expedite the construction process.
Highlighting the features of the upcoming ring road, Liaquat Ali Chatta revealed plans to model the rest area on the Bhera rest area, ensuring a comfortable and convenient space for travelers.
He stated that the project is slated for completion before October, promising relief for Rawalpindi’s traffic woes.
The Commissioner underscored the multifaceted benefits of the Ring Road project, envisioning a significant reduction in traffic congestion within Rawalpindi city.
Moreover, he anticipated the creation of local job opportunities, bringing economic benefits to residents in the vicinity.
In a stern warning, Liaquat Ali Chatta emphasised the paramount importance of construction quality, asserting that no compromises would be tolerated.
He concluded by expressing his anticipation of a marked improvement in Rawalpindi’s traffic flow upon the successful completion of the ring road project.
