Islamabad: Adviser to the Prime Minister for National Heritage and Culture (NHC) Amir Muqam inaugurated a five-day folk festival “Saqafti Mela,” at Lok Virsa Islamabad.
The adviser said that the event aimed to provide a platform for master artisans, folk artists, musicians, and dancers from all across the country to showcase their talent and gain national recognition.
He sid that the event would play a vital role in promoting national harmony and integration among all provinces by highlighting their indigenous cultures and folk heritage.
NHC Secretary Fareena Mazhar said that Saqafti Mela has been organised to cater to the interests of students, tourists and youngsters during the summer vacations.
She mentioned that the event would feature cultural shows, food stalls, and musical and dance performances, albeit on a smaller scale than the annual festival.
She further highlighted the inclusion of fusion music performances, blending traditional folk tunes with elements of Western music and international influences.
Hundreds of master artisans, folk artists, and musicians from across the country are taking part in the mela.
