ISLAMABAD: In a move aimed at enhancing pilgrimage experiences and facilities, Saudi Arabia has extended the visa duration for Umrah pilgrims from Pakistan.

The period has been extended to 90 days, significantly increasing the previous allowance of 30 days.

Saudi Hajj and Umrah Minister Dr Taqwaz bin Fawzan Al-Rabiya announced this change as part of the Saudi government’s vision to improve services for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims under its Vision 2023 initiative.

Dr Al-Rabiya highlighted that this extension allows Umrah pilgrims from Pakistan not only to visit the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah but also explore other parts of Saudi Arabia, including cities like Riyadh and Dammam. This significant expansion in the visa duration will enable pilgrims to have a more comprehensive and enriching experience during their pilgrimage.

In addition to the extended visa duration, the Saudi government has also introduced measures to facilitate the entry of pilgrims. Women can now enter the kingdom for Umrah without a male guardian (mahram).

The introduction of a transit visa, allowing travelers to pass through Saudi Arabia and enjoy a four-day stay in the country, has also been established. Airlines, including Saudi Airlines, are set to offer complimentary one-night stays, alongside tickets and visas, contributing to a more convenient and enjoyable pilgrimage experience.
