PESHAWAR: In an effort to maintain public order and prevent the spread of diseases, the District Administration of Peshawar has imposed Section 144, effectively banning the buying and selling of sacrificial animals on streets and highways.
This measure will remain in place until Wednesday, June 19, 2024.

The decision comes in response to the proliferation of illegal cattle markets across the city, which have led to numerous problems for residents. The District Administration highlighted that these unauthorised markets are causing significant disruption, creating lawlessness and obstructing the flow of traffic on major thoroughfares.
“We are facing serious issues due to these unregulated street markets,” said a spokesperson for the District Administration of Peshawar. “There is a genuine fear of disease outbreaks due to the unsanitary conditions created by these markets.”
