Security tightened for Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain, Data Gunj Baksh urs

LAHORE: Security arrangements have been finalised on account of Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (A.S) and the annual Urs of Sufi saint Hazrat Data Ali Hajvery in Lahore.

Punjab IG Dr. Usman Anwar told that for the Chehlum, 680 majalis and 382 processions would be held across the province.

Over 30,000 police officers and personnel would be deployed for security duties.

He also highlighted that Safe City cameras, walk-through gates, and metal detectors would be utilised for enhanced security.

Schools to remain closed on Monday

In Lahore, over 7,000 officers and staff would be deployed to maintain security for 44 majalis and 5 processions.

Meanwhile, the Sindh Home Department has imposed a ban on motorcycle pillion riding in various parts of the province to maintain order during the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS).

According to a notification issued by the Sindh Home Department, the ban on pillion riding will be in effect in the South Zone of Karachi from August 25 to 27. In the East Zone, the ban will be observed on August 26, while in the West Zone, it will be in place on August 25 and 26.

The notification further states that the ban will also be applicable in Hyderabad and Thatta on August 25 and 26, and in Dadu and Sajjawal from August 25 to 27.
