Shawwal moon sighted, Pakistan to celebrate Eidul Fitr on Wednesday

Islamabad: The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee declared on Tuesday that Eidul Fitr will be observed on Wednesday as the Shawwal moon was not sighted in the country.
The announcement was made following a meeting held by the central moon-sighting body under the chair of Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad at the central office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Kohsar Block in Islamabad.
Addressing a press conference after the meeting, Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad stated that testimonies of moon sighting were received from Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sukkur, and various regions of the country.
He announced that based on unanimous consensus, Eidul Fitr will be observed on Wednesday, 1st Shawwal 1445 Hijri.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee received direct communications from across the country, with citizens also sending moon sighting images and videos via WhatsApp.
On the other hand, the Meteorological Department had indicated the possibility of moon sighting in the country.
It should be noted that Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and other Gulf countries, along with Britain and Australia, will also celebrate Eidul Fitr tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the Shawwal moon was not sighted in India and Bangladesh, leading to the announcement that Eidul Fitr will be celebrated in both countries on Thursday
