Short-lived but intense rain, hailstorm ravage Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad was suddenly gripped into a sudden bout of extreme rain and hailstorm.

There are no reports of destruction so far, but car alarms were triggered by the forceful hail. Dark clouds have gathered on the city since morning, with intermittend drizzling, that suddenly turned into extreme weather around 1:30 PM.

Residents were caught off guard as dark clouds gathered over the capital, heralding the onset of the fierce weather phenomenon.

Sunday’s weather: thunderstorms, rainfalls, and a looming threat of flood

The deluge of rain accompanied by hailstones of significant size inundating streets and triggering car alarms, as pedestrians hurriedly sought refuge under roofs of nearby shops.

As quickly as it had arrived, the storm subsided after about ten minutes, with the skies gradually clearing and the rain tapering off. While the immediate impact of the storm may have lessened, the true extent of any damage incurred remains to be assessed.
